1. Selection of Seedling Site
The nursery site should be located in a place with convenient transportation, flat and open land, no water accumulation, and water and power sources. The environmental conditions of the nursery site must meet the requirements of pollution-free production. Simultaneously meet the needs of building seedling sheds and other facilities according to the scale of seedling cultivation.
2. Basic infrastructure
The seedling greenhouse adopts standard steel frame greenhouse, generally 6m wide, 1.8m high, and 20m long. If economic conditions do not allow, bamboo frame greenhouse can also be used. The size of the seedling shed can be adjusted according to the scale of seedling cultivation. According to the weather conditions and seedling cultivation process, it is necessary to choose plastic film and shading nets to cover the seedling shed. The main materials for greenhouse covering include film, sunshade net, insect proof net, etc.
3. Selection of seedling tray
Select 72 holes for chili peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants, with a 54 × 28cm floppy disk. Each hole has a diameter of 3.8cm at the top, 2.0cm at the bottom, and a depth of 4.6cm.
Bitter gourd, pumpkin, green (yellow) melon, sweet melon, winter melon: Select 50 holes, 54 × 28cm floppy disk, each hole has an upper diameter of 5cm, a bottom diameter of 2.2cm, and a hole depth of 5cm.
In addition, used acupoints may be infected with residual pathogens and insect eggs, so they must be cleaned and disinfected. The method is to first remove the residual matrix in the seedling tray, rinse it with clean water, air dry it, and soak it in a 500 fold solution of carbendazim for 12 hours or a 1000 fold solution of potassium permanganate for 30 minutes for disinfection. Formaldehyde solution or bleach solution can also be used for disinfection. Disinfected acupoints must be thoroughly washed with water and dried before use.
4. Preparation of seedling substrate
The seedling substrate is made of coconut coir after high-temperature composting: disinfected topsoil (fields that have not been planted with melons or vegetables for 2-3 years): organic fertilizer (organic fertilizer must use products that meet the industry standard NY525 specifications, with an organic matter content of not less than 30% or chicken manure, cow manure, pig manure after high-temperature composting) in a volume ratio of 70:27:3, thoroughly mixed evenly. Load the substrate into the rootstock seedling tray, and spray the tray with Julixing activated rooting dispersant or spray the seedling tray with 50% carbendazim and 600-800 fold solution. The substrate should be thoroughly watered. You can also choose to purchase specialized substrates for seedling cultivation. The price of seedling substrate is about 1 yuan/plant for melons, 0.7 yuan/plant for peppers and tomatoes, and 0.7 yuan/plant for eggplants.
5. Seedling bed setting
In a standard steel frame greenhouse, seedling cultivation can be divided into two seedbeds on the left and right, with an operating path left in the middle. The specifications of the seedbed are: the seedbed is 2m wide, with 6 rows of seedling trays arranged longitudinally in each bed. The operating channel between the two beds is 0.6m wide, and the distance between the bed and the edges of the greenhouse on both sides is 0.7m. The length of the seedbed can be determined according to the specific situation of the greenhouse. The multi span greenhouse can arrange seedling trays according to the above method. During seedling cultivation, lay a layer of undamaged film on the surface of the seedbed to keep it moist and prevent the seedlings from stringing roots, excess water, and nutrient solution from seeping into the ground.
According to the above seedbed settings, each acre (667 square meters) of seedling shed can hold about 2600 floppy disks for seedling cultivation. The seedling cultivation time is about one month, and a single emergence from the seedling field can provide 50-80 acres of chili peppers, about 100 acres of small tomatoes, and 80-100 acres of eggplants for field planting; Melon 80-100 acres, cucumber 40-50 acres, winter melon around 200 acres, pumpkin and bitter melon around 220-250 acres.
6. Nutrient solution pool setting
Fertilization is carried out in the form of spraying, and the construction of nutrient solution tanks can be tailored to local conditions. The volume size is configured according to the standard of spraying 1-1.5kg/㎡ on the seedbed area.
